GoodWe, a global provider of smart energy solutions, has announced the completion of an independent DNV technology review of its UT Series utility-scale string inverters.
The review covered the GoodWe UT Series, including models of GW320K-UT, GW320KH-UT, GW350K-UT and GW350KH-UT. It examined not only product design and technical performance, but also reliability, manufacturing quality, supply-chain management and global service capabilities.
For utility-scale PV projects, inverter bankability is not defined by a single product specification. It also depends on predictable energy production, effective management of long-term operational risk, consistent product delivery and lifecycle support. The independent DNV review provides greater technical transparency into the UT Series, supporting equipment selection, due diligence and long-term risk assessment.
Granular Power Management Supports Long-Term Energy Yield
Complex terrain, partial shading and module variations can create string mismatch and affect long-term plant performance. The UT Series features up to 15 independent MPPTs, with two PV strings connected to each MPPT, enabling more granular management of different array conditions.

If one MPPT encounters an issue, the remaining trackers can continue operating, helping limit the impact of a localized fault on energy production. DNV noted that this architecture offers distinct advantages in mitigating module mismatch while eliminating the risk of reverse-current backfeeding associated with multiple parallel strings, enabling a fuse-free design for inherent DC-side safety. Third-party testing also demonstrated static and dynamic MPPT performance above the typical levels of comparable products.
These capabilities help reduce energy-yield uncertainty under complex array conditions, supporting more stable and predictable long-term project returns.
Designed to Reduce Operational Risk in Demanding Environments
DNV also reviewed the efficiency, power quality, grid adaptability and environmental reliability of the UT Series. Testing demonstrated strong efficiency and power-quality performance, while reactive power control and optional nighttime SVG functionality support operation under different grid conditions.

Designed for demanding outdoor environments, the UT Series can maintain full-load operation at an ambient temperature of 40°C and features IP66 enclosure protection and C5 corrosion protection. The products also underwent dust, vibration, mechanical shock and seismic-related testing.
Together, these capabilities help reduce operational risks associated with harsh environments and changing grid requirements, limiting potential energy losses and maintenance pressure over the project lifecycle.
Lifecycle Capabilities from Volume Delivery to Long-Term Service
As part of the review, DNV conducted an on-site assessment of GoodWe’s manufacturing facility in Suzhou, covering supplier management, production controls, product testing and quality traceability.
GoodWe combines MES-based traceability, automated production, multi-stage quality inspections and controlled engineering-change processes to support consistent volume delivery. Its global service network provides remote support, field service, spare-parts management, technical training and structured fault response throughout the project lifecycle.
From traceable manufacturing quality to ongoing localized service, these capabilities strengthen GoodWe’s ability to support utility-scale projects over the long term, helping customers reduce supplier risk and protect the operational value of their assets.
