GoodWe Headquarters Earns LEED Gold Certification for Sustainable Building Design

GoodWe announced that their global headquarters building, the GoodWe Smart Energy Innovation Center in Suzhou, has officially received LEED Gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) globally recognized green building rating system. The certification, verified by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), recognizes the company’s efforts to design and construct a world-class, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible workplace.

A milestone in GoodWe’s sustainability journey

The LEED Gold recognition marks an important step in GoodWe’s long-term commitment to sustainable development. The Suzhou headquarters has met the strict requirements of the LEED v4 “Building Design and Construction: New Construction and Major Renovations” category, confirming outstanding performance in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, materials use, and indoor environmental quality.

“From the very beginning, our vision was to create a building that represents who we are:  innovative, efficient, and forward-thinking,” said Daniel Huang, Founder & CEO of GoodWe. “Earning LEED Gold is more than just an honor, it’s proof that we’re putting our sustainability values into real, measurable action.”

Setting a benchmark for green workplaces

GoodWe’s global headquarters was designed to embody the company’s mission and their goal of transforming every building into its own power plant. The 21-story, 16,000 m² building integrates Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) on facades and rooftops, and utilizes GoodWe’s own inverters, battery systems, and smart energy-management technology.

The facility produces its own power through solar applications, but also uses solar water heating, ground-source heat pumps and other renewable energy systems. With the addition of features like smart shading, natural ventilation, and high-efficiency insulation, the building reduces overall energy use by over 50%. Employees enjoy abundant natural light, optimized air quality, and a comfortable working environment powered by clean energy.

More than just an office

The headquarter building is more than just an office building. It functions as a demonstration site for customers who are visiting from around the world to see how GoodWe’s connected solutions work. The building is an energy prosumer, at the same time consuming and producing power, increasing sustainability, reliability, and saving cost.

GoodWe is planning extensive demonstrations on the concept of energy prosumers during their 15-year anniversary celebration in November 2025. Business partners will have the opportunity to have a closer look at both the headquarter building in Suzhou, as well as the Guangde Factory demonstration sites.

What LEED Gold means

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the world’s most widely used green building certification system. The Gold level recognizes buildings that achieve exceptional performance across all sustainability categories, including energy, water, waste, and indoor health. Globally, it’s considered a trusted mark of excellence in sustainable design and construction.

For GoodWe, this achievement reflects not only the quality of their engineering and design but also the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability. These include reducing their carbon footprint, promoting clean energy adoption, and setting an example for the industry.
