Integration of Generation, Grid, Load, Storage, and Intelligence is key to building such a system, empowering more energy prosumers to not only consume energy but also produce it, Daniel Huang explains.
Marking its 15th anniversary, GoodWe Technologies is charting a bold new course for the solar and smart energy industry. The company’s founder and chairman, Daniel Huang, has unveiled a forward-looking blueprint centered on the integration of generation, grid, load, storage, and intelligence — a comprehensive framework designed to redefine how energy is produced, managed, and consumed. With this evolution, GoodWe is transforming from a leading inverter manufacturer into a complete smart energy solutions provider, driving the next wave of innovation in global clean energy.
From Inverters to Integrated Energy Ecosystems
Established in 2010, GoodWe began its journey producing solar inverters, but has since expanded into a full-scale clean energy ecosystem. Today, its portfolio also includes building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), heat pumps, energy storage systems, and intelligent platforms for virtual power plants (VPPs) and microgrid management.

Reflecting on this progress, Huang emphasizes that the company’s strategy has grown with the industry’s transformation. “The integration of smart energy — from generation and storage to intelligent management — defines the next chapter of global energy,” he said. “GoodWe is proud to carry this innovation from China to the world.”
The Shift from PV 1.0 to PV 2.0
In his 2024 Global Partners’ Address, Huang outlined the transition from what he calls “PV 1.0” — where solar played a supplementary role — to “PV 2.0”, in which solar forms the core of the modern energy structure.
He highlighted three key global trends driving this shift:
1.The synergy of PV with energy storage solutions;
2.The expansion of solar markets across Asia, Africa, and Latin America; and
3.The rise of smart energy models, including VPPs and energy internet frameworks.
Scaling from Homes to Cities
GoodWe’s integrated approach emphasizes intelligent coordination between generation, storage, and consumption. This modular system can be scaled across various applications — from balcony PV systems and home energy storage to industrial facilities and urban microgrids.
Among its flagship initiatives is GoodWe’s zero-carbon demonstration factory in Guangde, Anhui Province, which already operates at ultra-low carbon levels and aims for full zero-carbon certification by 2030. The site also hosts the company’s EcoSmart Home demonstration site, which integrates solar tiles, a balcony PV-storage setup, a heat pump, a bidirectional EV charger, and a DC/AC hybrid system. The home produces about 10,000 kWh per month, with energy losses reduced by up to 10% through its DC-optimized architecture.
Empowering the Prosumer Era
GoodWe’s LEED Gold-certified Global Headquarters stands as another example of its commitment to sustainability. Huang notes that the energy landscape has shifted dramatically over the past 15 years: “Where customers once relied solely on power from distant plants, they can now generate, store, and manage their own energy. Consumers are becoming prosumers — active participants in the power ecosystem.”
Innovation, Quality, and Service at the Core
Backed by over 545 patents and continuous investment in R&D, GoodWe’s growth mirrors the broader transformation of the global energy industry. From its humble beginnings in 2010 with fewer than ten employees to surpassing 100 GW of cumulative installations worldwide by 2025, GoodWe attributes its success to three core values — product, quality, and service.
Huang recalls the company’s founding vision — “Where there is sunshine, there is GoodWe” — as the guiding principle that continues to drive innovation today.
Looking Ahead: Global Expansion and Zero-Carbon Replication
In the next 3–5 years, GoodWe plans to:
● Expand zero-carbon demonstration projects globally;
● Deepen its presence in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Latin America; and
● Replicate its zero-carbon park model internationally.
By defining the architecture of the “generation-grid-load-storage-intelligence” ecosystem, GoodWe aims not just to follow the industry’s progress but to lead it.
As Huang concludes, “The world ahead is full of opportunity. We aim to build a sustainable energy future, create lasting value for our customers, and preserve the blue skies and white clouds for generations to come.”
